Exercise 2: Develop a new marketing campaign using Microsoft 365 Copilot
In today’s fast-moving marketing landscape, success depends on the ability to turn insights into ideas—and ideas into impact—faster than ever before. Marketing professionals juggle a wide range of responsibilities, from analyzing market data and tracking customer sentiment to crafting creative campaigns that capture attention and inspire loyalty.
Microsoft 365 Copilot helps marketers streamline every stage of that process. It combines the power of large language models with your organization’s data in Microsoft 365, becoming a true creative and analytical partner. Copilot helps you spend less time switching between tools and more time shaping strategy and storytelling.
Beyond the core Microsoft 365 experience in Office apps that most marketers are probably already familiar with, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, the agentic Copilot offerings extend these capabilities even further. For example:
-
Copilot Idea Coach acts as a creative brainstorming partner, helping you explore campaign directions, refine taglines, and discover fresh content angles.
-
Copilot Writing Coach guides you through the editing process, helping you fine-tune language, structure, and tone for maximum clarity and effect.
From Copilot in Office apps through prebuilt and custom-built agents, these AI assistants empower marketing professionals to move seamlessly from data to decisions to delivery, enhancing productivity, creativity, and collaboration every step of the way. This training exercise shows you how Microsoft 365 Copilot can elevate your marketing workflow—from analyzing market performance and identifying growth opportunities to generating and refining compelling campaign content that’s ready for launch.
You plan to use Microsoft 365 Copilot across several apps to help you move from insight to execution:
-
Start with the facts. In Word, you must merge multiple market reports into a unified Market Analysis Report using Copilot. Doing so helps you understand which regions show the greatest opportunity for growth and which regions require brand awareness efforts.
-
Dig into the data. In Excel, you plan to use Copilot to analyze monthly sales and customer sentiment data across current LATAM markets. You want Copilot to look for key patterns in purchasing behavior, seasonality, and social sentiment to guide your targeting strategy.
-
Shift to creativity. Armed with these insights, you want the Copilot Idea Coach agent to brainstorm marketing campaign concepts that align with Mystic Spice’s identity—comforting, premium, and authentic—while resonating with Latin American cultural themes and values.
-
Refine the voice. Finally, you plan to collaborate with the Copilot Writing Coach agent to refine one of your chosen campaign ideas into professional, engaging marketing copy, ready for use across digital and print channels.
By the end of this exercise, you should experience how Copilot can help marketing professionals connect insights to ideas and ideas to impact, streamlining the process from market analysis to creative execution.
[!TIP] The Introduction unit in this module reminded you of the four key elements of an effective prompt: Goal, Context, Sources, and Expectations. Keep these elements in mind as you create prompts in this exercise.
Scenario
You’re the Latin America (LATAM) Marketing Director for Contoso Beverage, a division of Contoso, Ltd. Contoso achieved strong results across its North America markets with the sale of Mystic Spice Premium Chai Tea, a specialty beverage that blends rich spices, natural sweetness, and a sense of everyday indulgence. However, for the past year, the company struggled to achieve similar success across its LATAM markets. To address this issue, the company wants to launch a new promotional campaign aimed at reinvigorating sales and bringing Mystic Spice to new markets across Latin America.
To ensure a successful LATAM launch, Contoso’s executive team asked you to lead a comprehensive market readiness and campaign development initiative. Your goal is to understand where consumer interest and market potential are strongest, identify the right positioning for Mystic Spice in LATAM, and craft compelling campaign concepts that connect with local audiences.
